Tasty Vegetarian Lunch Recommendations in London for Winter
If you are like me, on these chilly and grey December days, you feel like indulging in a warm and tasty lunch instead of the usual cold salad or sandwich near your office.
You are looking for healthy and wholesome meals without them being too heavy - especially so you can grab and eat quickly in between work. Falafel is a great vegetarian healthy option and I don’t mean those cold falafels squashed into a pre-packaged salad or wrap. I’m talking about warm falafel accompanied by great salads. So here are three great falafel lunch recommendations I’ve found and enjoyed when working in the Cannon Street / St Paul’s area in London in no particular order:
Hummus Bros - Levantine Kitchen offers a great veggie selection, and I particularly like the Falafel Salad box. I recently tried this - it includes warm falafel balls (beats eating cold falafel in pre-packaged wraps), quinoa (or freekeh), salad of lettuce/tomato, and you can add hummus (or guacamole) as well. Alternatively, you can opt for a falafel salad bowl (falafel on a bed of hummus). The salad bowls are served with warm pitta bread.
Pilpel - lots of veggie options to choose from to accompany warm falafel - I have tried the falafel container which is served with hummus, you have a great choice of salads, sauces with a white or wholemeal pita on the side. Extremely tasty and flavoursome!
Falafel House - Located in a corner off Cannon Street where you will see people queuing outside at lunchtime, this place offers a falafel box amongst other vegetarian options - this includes a generous portion of falafel with a choice of toppings and hummus served with pitta bread. Selections include grilled vegetables and feta cheese and olives.
For those in a bit more of a hurry at lunchtime, but still looking for a warm falafel option, the Falafel & Halloumi hot wrap at Pret-a-Manger gets a special mention.
Enjoy !
