Xmas Break at Chepstow in Wales
Just returned from a short winter break between Christmas and the New Year in Chepstow, Wales where we stayed at St. Pierre - a Marriott hotel and country club, located not too far from Bristol. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and had a fabulous time here despite the very chilly weather over the past few days. On our arrival we checked into our room and were pleasantly surprised by the unique cottage feel with an outdoor entrance to the room. The Christmas decorations both inside and outside the hotel were beautiful to see.

We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Morgans restaurant on our first night at the hotel - a barley and squash risotto followed by a sticky toffee slice with vanilla ice cream. The ambience was great at the hotel. The following morning after a tasty English breakfast (a special mention for the lady preparing omelettes on the go whilst facing a large queue) we were able to explore the nearby sights with it being cold yet sunny and clear skies - Chepstow castle with fabulous views overlooking River Wye and Tintern Abbey. Returning to the hotel, it was great to warm up with a vegetable soup at the Zest restaurant for a light lunch mid afternoon. St. Pierreās leisure facilities provided an opportunity to relax at the hotel after which in the evening we returned to Zest for dinner - the chef kindly prepared us a vegetarian meal - chickpea spinach curry with rice.
The staff were friendly, accommodating with our vegetarian requests and doing their very best to cope with a large volume of guests during this festive period.
